Fresh Guacamole

PES (Adam Pesapane) is a director and animator of numerous short films and commercials. Receiving a B.A. in English Literature at the University of Virginia, PES migrated to film as a storytelling medium. His use of everyday objects and stop-motion animation to create original material is instantly recognizable. His work has been recognized in the United States and internationally.

Showtime's YouTube posting of "Fresh Guacamole" amassed 3.5 million hits in its first 4 days online. Of the initial idea, PES says "I had the core idea of a grenade as an avocado. Even though this type of grenade is referred to as a "Pineapple Grenade" I've always thought they looked more like avocados. I built the film around this idea, filling in the blanks and ingredients around it." As in "Western Spaghetti", the hands in the film are PES's.

Mast Brothers Chocolate

Mast Brothers Chocolate is owned and operated by brothers Rick and Michael Mast. They are located on North 3rd Street Brooklyn, NY. The brothers make all the chocolate themselves in small batches, specially sourcing all their ingredients using primarily single-origin Venezuelan and Ecuadorian cacao. Then hand-wrapping the resulting bars in vintage and patterned papers imported from Italy. They have also partnered with incredible farms and organizations such as Anderson Almonds, Freddy Guys Hazelnuts, Stumptown Coffee, Maine Sea Salt and Crown Maple Syrup to create chocolate pairings that "blow minds!".

See a few shots of the store and the chocolate making process after the jump.

Field Theories

Leatherman Matt Shallenburger is behind the Field Theories brand and he creates handmade leather goods in L.A. His minimalist, one-piece leather folios are made from a single continuous piece of full grain leather. Utilizing the architecture of an envelope, it is secured without glues or stitches, using instead two carefully placed hand-hammered copper rivets. Each portfolio is cut, burnished, folded, stamped, riveted, and oiled - one at a time and entirely by hand. They are available in four sizes.

Detroit Bicycle Company

Detroit Bicycle Company founder Steven Bock seems intent on helping to restore Detroit’s sense of dignity. Each bike is built to order from the finest parts for those who appreciate high-quality. This is the Madison Street, there’s four more complete bikes on his site: http://detroitbicyclecompany.com/complete.html, each named after a street or avenue in Detroit. Each one is an eclectic yet tastefully compiled bicycle that has, at their core, a hand-built frame by Steven. Frames are offered in a variety of finishes such as brushed, polished, chromed or nickel-plated, as well as paint or powder-coated. The Madison Street has been copper plated, which will weather superbly, as has the vintage headlight, which is a detail that brings us back to the golden age of Detroit’s automotive industry.

FieldCandy

FieldCandy tents do not give you camouflage protection in the natural setting, nor do they help you blend in with the rest of the crowd at the campsite. These tents are designed to stand out. This UK-based company has selected a group of 20 or so artists and designers – photographers, graphic designers, illustrators, branding and advertising designers – to create designs that were then transferred to the ultra-light, waterproof flysheet that covers the two-person tent. They now offer more than 40 different designs by 18 artists. On the FieldCandy website, a counter next to each design indicates how many of that design are still left. Each tent comes with a label that shows the edition number and the design name. Prices range from $430 to over $1,000. FieldCandy ships around the world. The tents are available exclusively through the website: http://www.fieldcandy.com/

Bulleit Bourbon

Bulleit Bourbon is a brand of Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey characterized by its relatively high rye content for a bourbon and its aging of at least six years. The design of the bottle is reminiscent of an old-fashioned brown medicine flask with raised lettering and is sealed by a cork stopper. The Bulleit brand is owned by Diageo, and it is produced at the Kirin Brewing Company Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. It is bottled at 45% abv for the US market. For the UK, German and Australia markets, it is bottled in the UK at 40% abv.
